about

Grief is a many-colored thing, not all of them dark or lifeless. Ironically the unexpectedly brighter shades can accentuate and intensify the ponderous void.

We recently let go of our pup whom we adopted 11 years and a week prior, and on our way home we saw a brilliant rainbow that appeared after the rain had moved on.

A friend of ours who knew that we were working our way with our terminally ill companion but wasn’t aware that an end had been reached, posted this photo of that same rainbow.

On one hand, the human brain is infuriatingly good at connecting events into coincidences or casualties, but on the other hand, if this isn’t an example of the Rainbow Bridge for a loved one, I don’t know what is.

Our hearts feel like mounds of jagged rubble. We also know that we feel this pain, because we had to part with someone very special.

Everything you gain you eventually have to let go. Yet that hole in your heart is where a gentle breeze comes in, you can see the sky, and the sun shines through to cast in light the shape of what you lost.
